What to Do If Your Facebook Account has been hacked?
Your Facebook Account can be hacked any time especially if you don’t have a strong password. Some people are just tech gurus who can make sure they intrude your account and get hold of your details. Most hackers are targeting to steal your private data especially if it is a business account. Before you even think of what to do after your account is hacked, first, you need to know how to identify the hacked account. Change Your Password Immediately
Once you realize your account has been hacked, you need to immediately change your passwords. Passwords can be retrieved if you linked your Facebook account to your phone and email. The hacker might have your password for Facebook but does not have your SIM card and email address. You need to immediately change your password using your phone number where Facebook will call you and verify that you are the owner of the account.
You can as well use your email and Facebook will send you a link to follow and verify your account ownership and then change your password. If you are late, the hacker may attach his email and phone number and you will not be able to save your account from the attack. Keep changing your passwords regularly if you want to make your account hacker proof. Under Settings > Security and Login, scroll down to Login and click Change password.
Report Compromised Account
Your account has been hacked and you don’t know what to do? Don’t worry, just report your account under compromised section. Facebook will do its default reset and you will have your account restored quickly. Always make sure you attach your details to your Facebook account so that Facebook can verify it when it is hacked. A phone number is perfect than an email because no one can hacker or duplicate your phone number. If you can attach both email and phone as well as your other personal details, Facebook will be able to make account recovery easily. Your account is personal so make sure you don’t share it with even your close friends that you trust. Always view your activity on account so activity so that you notice any kind of strange activity on your account.
Improve Your Privacy Settings
Always make sure you set effective privacy settings that will keep you away from the hackers. You can set your posts in such a way that your friends will only see the latest ones and comment or participate there. That way, it will be easy for you to receive messages from your friends if they see posts that do not look nice to them. Once your friends start complaining about your posts, you need to know something is wrong and take action immediately. Don’t let Facebook remain with hackers for long.
Always check your activities on Facebook. Never click ads you don’t know the source. Any notification regarding your account log in and activity that you suspect is not from you should force you to change your details. Don’t allow any kind of suspicious activity to just go like that, make sure you take action and restore the security of your account. Include your email and phone and set to set notifications whenever a person interferes with your account.
